Due to the suspension of clinical rotations from May 2020 to December 2022, medical students faced significant challenges in developing essential skills, particularly empathy, which is a critical component of professionalism in medicine. This study aims to explore the impact of these disruptions on empathy development by analyzing qualitative data from focus groups and interviews. Additionally, it seeks to address gaps in the literature by developing a more accurate instrument for measuring empathy traits and abilities in this specific cohort of medical students.
